Update your resume, if you haven’t redone your resume in the last 5 years you need too.

Everything has changed in the prescreening process, first, if you apply on line, your resume will get scanned by a computer before a human gets to read it, if it is not in a current format, it gets kicked out and you are never considered or notified.

You can go to a paid professional, but all around the country there are free workshops available to people through networking groups like – Careers in Transition.

Networking is key in the jobs search process, groups as mentioned above offer an opportunity to hear what other people are doing in their job search and what has been successful for others. If you are in between jobs, let other Reps and Key Accounts that you are looking.

 

Consider starting your own agency representing several non-competing lines.

Be open and ready to look outside shoe industry, if only for a while.
